Odesa National Medical University promotes, and hosts events all over the year to entertain our students, to show them our Ukrainian traditions and celebrations and to learn from our foreign students about their favorite ways to celebrate different national fests. ONMU also engage in activities that provide our student with quality entertainment. Throughout the year, Odesa National Medical University plans hundreds of events and spend countless hours broadcasting over the airwaves. These campaigns offer a great opportunity for student leaders to build leadership and teamwork skills, provide quality entertainment to them, and obtain real-world experience that will help them in their future career endeavors.
Every year, the volume of international cooperation of ONMedU increases in such areas as internships and advanced training of scientists abroad, online participation in educational events, development of student academic mobility, deepening cooperation with institutions of higher education in Great Britain, Lithuania, Romania, Georgia, Austria, Sweden, activation of the “Erasmus+” project programs opportunities within the framework of cooperation, in particular, with the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. Many other projects are being developed as well.
ONMedU has about 60 signed agreements with educational and scientific institutions and organizations of 25 countries. Active cooperation continues with the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (Kaunas), the Medical University of Vienna (Austria), Romanian Grigore T. Popa Medical University (Iasi), Queen Mary University of London, the Georgian National University and the Caucasus International University (Tbilisi).
As of January 1, 2025, the scientific and pedagogical staff includes 668 employees in 36 departments who participate in the implementation of all accredited educational programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. From the total number of professors and teaching staff at ONMedU, there are 116 doctors of science, 349 doctors of philosophy, 88 professors, 222 associate professors, 2 academicians and 2 corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 15 honored figures of science and technology of Ukraine, 22 honored doctors, 1 honored inventor and 1 honored worker of education of Ukraine.
The university has a modern material and technical base for educational, scientific, medical and diagnostic work. Clinical departments receive state-of-the-art scientific and medical equipment that meets world standards and allows the introduction of the latest achievements of medical science into the educational process and medical practice, including endoscopic, laparoscopic, transplant technology, tissue therapy, genetic medicine, etc.
Unique scientific and medical units have been formed at our higher education institution: University Clinics, Research Institute of Translational Medicine. Medical and diagnostic centers created jointly with health care authorities are successfully functioning: cardiorheumatology, eye microsurgery, osteosynthesis, endoscopic and laser surgery, children’s cardiology, toxicology, etc.
The modern publishing and printing complex allows to publish university newspapers, scientific journals, textbooks and study guides, the authors of which are university scientists. The leading scientific, informational and educational center of ONMedU today is the university library. It has more than 847 thousand documents in different languages. An important part of the library’s modern fund is more than 5,000 electronic publications.
The electronic student library has become a center of the latest acquisitions, which contribute to full-fledged information support of the educational process. For students, spacious reading rooms with Wi-Fi network, a computer reading room, electronic textbooks, access to a powerful network resource of educational and methodological content “Department Materials” have been created.
