Scholarly works of V.N. Zaporozhan, Member of the academy, cover a broad range of issues characterized by uniqueness of the set tasks, and are focused on deciding urgent matters of modern medicine.
V.N. Zaporozhan made a significant contribution to the development of relevant issues of modern genetics, immunology, and gynecology. In 2001 for a cycle of works “New approaches and technologies in diagnostics and treatment of oncology diseases” he was awarded a purse named after R.Ye.Kavetskyi of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
V.N. Zaporozhan created one of the first in Ukraine genetic laboratory and Research and Development Institute of molecular-genetic and cellular medicine, the Director whereof he is. While introducing new molecular-genetic and cellular technologies in the clinical practice, V.N. Zaporozhan develops methods of long-term autologous stem cell cultivation and protocols of their clinical application.
Long-term scientific experience helped him develop a new scientific area – genetic medicine, which essentially increased possibilities for scientific research and development of innovative molecular-genetic methods for diagnostics and treatment of socially significant diseases, as well as integration thereof in all medical fields.
Pioneer developments of V.N. Zaporozhan in the sphere of organ preserving technologies and implementation thereof in medical practice, are fundamental and of high priority. V.N. Zaporozhan was the first in the country to develop and introduce in clinical practice the technologies of treatment with endoscopic, cryosurgical and laser methods.

Philosophic understanding of the results of multi-sided scientific and practical activity lead V.N.Zaporazhan to a conclusion that bioethical regulation is necessary in the environment, when biosphere changes to noosphere. Integrated ethical control of human intellectual activity on molecular, cellular, organ, organism and social levels, constitutes a subject of the new science initiated by him – nooethics.
He is the author of over 650 scientific works, including 48 monographs, 16 textbooks and study guides, 78 patents and copyright certificates.
V.N.Zaporozhan is the Chief Editor of four academic periodicals: “Odessa Medical Journal”, “Integrative Anthropology”, “International Medical-Philosophical Journal”, and “Achievements of Biology and Medicine”, and co-editor of international journal “China, Journal of Modern Medicine”.
V.N. Zaporozhan is the Head of Interdepartmental Coordination Council for fundamental and applied issues of medical genetics at National Academy of Medical Sciences and Ministry of Health of Ukraine, is a member of Ukrainian Cellular Biology Association, European Society for Artificial Organs, member of European Society of Gynecological Oncology, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, European Parliament on issues of Bioethics.
V.N. Zaporozhan is the founder and leader of a scientific school well-known in the country and abroad. He supervised presentation of 24 Doctor’s and 68 Ph.D. thesis works.
V.N. Zaporozhan was elected a member of 16 foreign universities, academies, associations, has many international awards, including: President’s medal of George Washington University (1998, USA), Albert Schweizer big gold medal (1999, Poland), International Hippocrates Medal (2000, Greece), badge of honor “Socrat Award” (2006, Great Britain), “Vernadsky Star” medal (2000, Russia), and others. For special achievements in the development of medical science and education, V.N.
